Pick you up from your hotel in Cairo by jeep 4x4 to drive to Fayoum stopping en route to visit the pharonic temple of Qasr el Sagha. Although never completed, its construction is unique in Egypt with irregularly shaped blocks that resemble the Inca structures of South America. From here, head to the remains of the city of Dima, originally a Greco-Roman town, in the heart of the arid desert where you can enjoy a picnic lunch. After lunch, head to the fascinating and remote UNESCO World Heritage sight at Wadi El Hitan or “Whale Valley”, with its abundance of fossilised whale skeletons.
