The temples were hewn out of rock cliffs during the reign of Ramses II, in order to avoid the rising waters caused by the construction of the Aswan High Dam in the 1960s, the colossal statues of Ramses II and Abu Simbel temples were cut into 950 blocks and reassembled farther inland. Colossal figures of Ramses are seated with the Gods and attended by his queen and daughters, then you will return to your cruise or hotel in Abu Simbel.
